The American Revolution was a representation of the Colonists, they wanted their own freedom without any obsurd taxation or laws imposed on them.  Without the strive for independence the colonists had, there might never have been a Revolution at all because no one would have had any heart. 

The Revolution started with a mysterious shot in Lexington and ended with a Surrender to George washington by General Cornwallis at Yorktown, Virginia.
